Holy Week Destination : Simala Shrine in Sibonga, South of Cebu
Holy Week is one of the important Christian traditions here in our country. In
this sacred week, Christians all over the Globe commemorate the Passion of
Christ, who died on Good Friday in reparation for the sins of mankind, and rose
on Easter Sunday to give new life to all who believe. Thus, while Holy Week is
solemn and sorrowful, it also anticipates the joy of Easter through the
recognition of God's goodness in sending His Son to die for our salvation.
(Catholicism) In addition, Religious people observe activities like Holy
Procession, Confession, Penitence, and different ways of deep prayers. In
Southern Cebu, Simala Shrine is the most visited Holy Place by Locals and
Tourists during Holy Week as they observe these religious activities in the said
Church.
To give you update, The Monastery of the Holy Eucharist in Simala is currently on renovation as it prepares new attractions, structures, exteriors and most of all, better Catholic Services for all Christians and Visitors. Here are some photos taken last March 8, 2016.
